"Son Heung-min is Too Old to Play as a Winger" → "Stop Underestimating Him"... Debate Over SON's Position as He Faces Renewal with Tottenham

A dedicated Tottenham Hotspur reporter has spoken out against the underestimation of Son Heung-min.

On June 30 (Korean time), Alasdair Gold, Tottenham's dedicated reporter for 'Football London,' had a Q&A session with fans about Tottenham's summer situation. A notable question was related to Son Heung-min. A fan asked, "Shouldn't Tottenham use Son as a striker and buy more wingers? I don't see the aging Son as a winger. There's no reason to play him on the left unless he's the best striker."

This raised the issue of using Son as a striker. Like Cristiano Ronaldo, who moved to a striker role as he aged, Son has recently been used centrally, both for the national team and Tottenham. Last season, with Harry Kane moving to Bayern Munich and no clear replacement found, Tottenham used Son in the center.

Although Richarlison was available, his early-season struggles led Tottenham to use Son centrally and Richarlison on the left. Son showed incredible scoring prowess, working well with James Maddison. As Richarlison scored 10 goals but then got injured, Son's central role increased. He finished the league with 17 goals and 10 assists but performed better as a winger towards the season's end.

While his best position seems to be as a winger, many believe his speed and dribbling have declined with age. Some argue he should be sold considering his age. British 'TBR Football' noted, "It would be sad for Son to leave Tottenham, but it's understandable. Son is almost 32 and nearing the end of his career. He remains fantastic but has limited time at the highest level."

They added, "Selling Son for a good price and bringing in a younger player could be good business for Tottenham. Letting Son go this summer isn't ideal short-term but might be beneficial long-term. Tottenham needs world-class attacker Son, but his potential summer transfer should be monitored."먹튀검증
